Vaishnavi Truststarted the new project in Coimbatore from June 2017 at JeevaKarunyaSeva ashram.
JeevaKarunyaSeva Ashram is a home for underprivileged children from families living below poverty line. Children are provided with food, shelter and clothing. The Ashram also focuses on shaping the children by teaching them moral values and discipline.Jeevakarunya Ashram is located in Naickenpalayam, Coimbatore.There are 30 children staying in this home in the age group of 6-15.
Vaishnavi Trust conducted an awareness talk with Parents of the children staying at the Ashram. Most of the parents shown interest in the Milk Scheme and gave their consentfor Ayurveda Intervention.Jeevani Milk Scheme was started for 16 children in the Ashram.
Dr Uma from Kalpakaviruksha Ayurveda Hospital conducted initial diagnosis and physical examination of all Children interested in the Scheme. As many children were found to be havingconstipation during the diagnosis, Dr Uma prescribed Avipathi Churnam as a mild laxative on the night before the starting of Milk Scheme. All Children had clear bowel movements and were ready for the Milk Scheme.
Dr Uma started the Milk Scheme on 19 th June 2017 and demonstrated the mixing of correctdosage of Ammukura Churnam with Milk to the Warden and care taker of the Ashram. Datri logam was also prescribed for children for a period of 6 weeks.Doctor conducts a follow up visit every fortnight to observe the progress of the children’s health and also to supervise the Milk Scheme.
