This project started in MADURAI on June 20, 2018 in the school named NMR SUBBARAMAN MEMORIAL RESIDENTIAL PRIMARY SCHOOL located at Vinayaga Nagar with 89-95 kids aged between 5 and 12 years. All the kids are underprivileged with one more living parents or relatives belonging to remote downtrodden villages in & around Madurai district. The PROJECT is taken care of in this unit by an Ayurvedic physician Dr.S.Sundaram@Renu,B.A.M.S,PGD(YOGA) ,chief physician of Dr.S.Dhanvanthri Premvel’s Dhanvanthri Nilayam Ayurveda Vaidhyasalai ,KK Nagar branch ,Madurai
Initially when the project was started, each and every kid was checked up for the following parameters:
- Name
- Age
- Height
- Weight
- General examination of eyes ,ears ,nose, throat ,tongue abdomen skin, hair ,bowel habits, digestion
- Personal hygiene food habits sleep activities in and around school
It was noted in the unit that roughly 25-30% of the kids were Anaemic and 60-65% of the kids had very weak Immunity showing symptoms of repeated cold & cough, fever, skin allergies of the body.
With regards to food, the institution provides good food too but Vaishnavi trust started to function in the unit to improvise the life style, health through good immunity by providing the highly nutritious ‘Ashwagandha’ milk to boost the immunity of 65% of the weak kids and to bring into normal those 25% of the Anaemic kids.
‘Ashwagandha’, also called the Indian Ginseng, according to Ayurveda the life science provides the necessary Immunity, strength, valour and activity of the kids. The powder consists of the following ingredients in the proportion mentioned below:

Ela (cardamom) 15.4 gm

Lavanga (clove) 3.9 gm
Palm sugar 500 gm

- Relieves tiredness & deficiency or emaciation when given with cow’s ghee.
- For cold & cough, it can be given with milk/honey.
- Urinary infections, it can be given along with butter.
- It improves the blood circulation too.
Dose: (as for the children in the project) 2-3gm in 100ml of milk daily in the evening.
As per the project’s motive, the children are being administered from 20/06/18 along with milk and it has been noted, the children seem to fall sick less often after the intake of this churanam although, lack of hygiene here and there is obvious.
The children may further be given the churna for 3-5 months more.
As per the Physician’s instruction the children are also taught good hygiene practises, balanced diet practices as prescribed by ancient Ayurvedic texts
