The first initiative in giving milk with the ayurveda medicine, ‘ Ammukkura churnam’ was done in Mugalivakkam government school under the supervision of the doctors from Sanjeevani Foundation. The students of 10th std were selected for the intervention with the intention of improving their health and energy levels.
The project commenced in December 2014 and lasted for 3 months. With the help of the headmistress 20 boys and 42 girls were given milk and ashwagandhadhi marketed as Ammukura Churnam by impcops.
An initial report of their health was prepared by the doctors . Volunteers helped with the logistics and distribution of milk to all the students. Volunteers made sure milk was procured , boiled well and the correct dosage of Ammukura churnam mixed in the right amount of milk. The milk was served in the evening at 4 PM.
After just 15 days a lot of noticeable changes were spotted by the teachers and the volunteers.
• There was a marked improvement in the complexion and clarity in the student’s faces. They seemed more alert.
• The children showed improvement in concentration thus doing much better in the class.
• Some students were tested for the running capacity and it had improved since the intervention.
• Girls specifically noticed an improvement in the menstrual cycle. There was a case where a girl claimed to have regular periods after a long time
