Healthier and happier children.
Our founding programme: holistic health and nutrition for children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 in residential schools and shelter homes, across multiple locations in Tamil Nadu. Jeevani restores digestion, absorption and metabolism first, then builds good nutrition on top of a body that can finally use it.
Jeevani didn't begin as the programme it is today.
In 2014, we started with one simple intervention: daily milk fortified with Ashwagandhadhi churna. As the children became healthier, we realised that supporting gut health was helping them benefit from the nutrition they received.
That insight shaped everything that followed. We added regular doctor visits, health assessments, growth monitoring and high-protein snacks, creating a programme that addresses not just what children eat, but how well their bodies use it.
Absorption first, then nutrition.
Daily milk, gut-ready
Daily milk, paired through the monsoon with Ashwagandhadhi churna to strengthen the gut and support immunity when illness spreads fastest. Twice-yearly gut restoration guided by our Siddha, Ayurveda and allopathy team.
Periodic medical care
Visiting doctors, two to three times a month, for children who would otherwise have limited access to medical care. A stocked mini pharmacy at each centre, plus doctor-on-call and telemedicine.
High-protein nutrition
A daily high-protein snack from locally available, nutrient-dense ingredients. We deliberately sponsor protein because growing children need it most, while food and groceries are already provided by others.
Health education
Mental health, general health and hygiene awareness, so children carry the gains forward for themselves.
The problem we saw
Children arriving at their hostels with no appetite, aching legs, constant colds and stomach pain. Missing school again and again, too tired to learn. When we surveyed one belt in 2019, 87% of the children were malnourished.
What changed
Doctors report that 90% of children have remained free of even minor recurring illnesses since joining the programme. Wardens describe children who are more engaged, more playful, and far less often at the clinic. Girls' menstrual health has improved noticeably.
